Tomorrow, thursday 16th of Nov at M12 in Berlin, you can hear the livesets of Erast aka Nikakoi and Gogi.Ge.Org aka Postindustrial Boys, two members of the Tiflis (For those who don’t know, Tiflis is the capital of Georgia) based Culture and Art Collective called Goslab. Reading this kinda struck me because just 2 days ago i was completely dragged into a very good interview with members of Goslab in the current issue of Spex (normally i don’t read Spex, but i had to choose at the airport).

Apart from hearing that there is a serious threat from hard drugs in georgia, there is also the current conflict with russia…, so better go and listen ’till it is too late.

Das Berliner Haus der Kulturen der Welt ( CI by Neville Brody), wird zur Zeit umgebaut und saniert.
Diesen Umstand nimmt das Haus zum Anlass eine Vortragsreihe mit dem Titel “meine Baustelle” zu veranstalten.
Nach dem ersten Lesen ist die Verquickung von Kultur, Politik, Architektur, Gesellschaftsforschung und Wirtschaft zu einer gemeinsamen Vortragsreihe sehr zu begrüssen und der Besuch jedem zu empfehlen. Eintritt ist frei.

Erster Termin ist am Samstag den 21. Oktober mit dem Thema “meine Diplomatie“, Gäste sind Joschka Fischer und Peter Sloterdijk. Ausserdem Hans Ulrich Obrist und Carsten Nicolai, Kobena Mercer, und mehr…

Noch bis August 2007 ist das Haus der Kulturen der Welt unter seinem beflügelten Dach ein großer Bauplatz. Ein Haus im Umbau, das gerade in seinem unfertigen Zustand Raum anbietet für neues Nachdenken und zum Experiment. meine Baustelle – das sind sechs Wochenenden, in denen Formen des Austauschs und des Dialogs in ihren kulturellen, sozialen, politischen, auch ökonomischen Voraussetzungen und Dimensionen reflektiert werden. Unterschiedliche Möglichkeiten künstlerischer Intervention werden erprobt, ungewöhnliche Begegnungen versucht.

Therefore i’m glad to announce that our long-term republish friend Erich Bogatzky is setting up a Beirut relief Party at Watergate Berlin on the 27th of September.

Don’t think of this as a small and smutty “Soliparty“, because it’s a bit more than that: The whole top range of djs that you know agreed to contribute to this event, and the flyer reads like the who-is-who of Berlin-London-Club-scene of the past 2 years.

Spread the word and go dancing, once for a good cause…

Beirut is dead. Long live Beirut!
Few cities in the world have such an old and tumultuous history as Beirut. Again and again it has been attacked and destroyed. Again and again it rose from its ashes. The Beirutis never gave up though. Even after 15 years of brutal civil war they managed to revive the city and fill it with an incomparable and infectious energy. Sixteen years after the end of the civil war the “Paris of the Middle East” was buzzing just like in the old times. Beirut’s nightlife was back and its party spirit was unbreakable.
This is partly due to a club: The Basement, the country’s first venue for high quality electronic music. In a little more than a year a considerable number of big international DJs played there. After establishing a cultural exchange with Paris under the name “Paris mixe Beyrouth” several big names from the French capital were invited to play for an ever growing scene. Another exchange with Berlin was also well under way with many artists already booked for future dates.
The recent development is a big blow for the country, the city, the people and also the music.
With “From Berlin to Beirut” we want to do something for the people whose normal lives have been torn apart so abruptly. With this event we will raise funds for the organization Mowatinun that provides help and relief to the refugees who fled the regions under attack and tries to strengthen solidarity between the citizens of Lebanon regardless of political or religious affiliations. Mowatinun has already started efficient relief operations, maintaining a steady flow of supplies to families in need. They are directly providing basic supplies for hundreds of families located in schools in Beirut and its suburbs. Also, an entertainment unit for children has been created in order to help them overcome these difficult times.
Like Beirut, Berlin is a city that has an old and war-marked history and is also a city full of life, energy and with an amazing nightlife activity. Because we are here and still able to live, love, party and enjoy life freely without any borders, restrictions or worries, we would like to express our support and compassion to the people in Beirut with this specific event – without judgment or political position.
So, come and dance – it’s for a good cause!
