According to the initiative called dotberlin there is a destinctive need for a new Top-Level-Domain that is .berlin
Thats why they try to raise enough money for the registry fee (50.000$) at ICANN .
Of course this is heavily supported by the industries that maintain a Berlin based branch, but i can already imagine how this will work out: the style-and-fashion-tech-music-blog crowd will adopt first with being able to register names like “fabulous-life-in.berln” and the like.
Do not hope to reserve some names already: if it all works out, the domain will be dropped to the internetsy by the end of 007, when there is Web 3.0 and the like….

The spikamedia online media cast will start its streams today.
The project, initiated by hgkz institute of new media is the first that i know to have a 5.1 suround sound ogg stream for experimental music.
Nonetheless it will also feature a “standard” stereo stream with “not-so-standard” content (i.e. good music plus features, not just some server-jukebox)
Grab it here (.ogg, opens with vlc or mplayer)
or come to the launch party tonight at Zuerichs Toni-Areal.
