According to the initiative called dotberlin there is a destinctive need for a new Top-Level-Domain that is .berlin
Thats why they try to raise enough money for the registry fee (50.000$) at ICANN .
Of course this is heavily supported by the industries that maintain a Berlin based branch, but i can already imagine how this will work out: the style-and-fashion-tech-music-blog crowd will adopt first with being able to register names like “fabulous-life-in.berln” and the like.
Do not hope to reserve some names already: if it all works out, the domain will be dropped to the internetsy by the end of 007, when there is Web 3.0 and the like….
